10 ways you can put the fashion industry right

  1. Buy second-hand. Support your local charity shop, buy through sharing portals like Gumtree and Craigs List. (eg charity shops)
  2. Buy from ethical suppliers. Ethical Consumer ranks Patagonia  top in High Street suppliers, whereas Amazon and Asda score zero  1)https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/fashion-clothing/shopping-guide/high-street-clothes-shops
  3. Recycle your clothing. Keep clothes out of landfill. Someone somewhere needs what you no longer have a use for
  4. Mend your clothes, or join a repair cafe (https://repaircafe.org/en/
  5. Upcycle – turn used fashion into better fashion (http://www.gumshoe.amsterdam)
  6. Buy better, keep longer. Say no to wasteful ‘fast fashion’.
  7. Buy Cradle-to-Cradle certified clothing (https://www.c2ccertified.org). Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is a globally recognized measure of safer, more sustainable products made for the circular economy.
  8. Lease your clothes instead of buying them (https://mudjeans.eu/lease-a-jeans/)
  9. Wear sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, hemp, organic wool or linen 2)https://www.greenchoices.org/green-living/clothes/more-sustainable-fabrics
  10. Only buy what you need.
